Piggy Packers began life in Paekakariki in the early 1990’s. A panel beater started hiring a few camper vans and trucks from his premises. Locals started enquiring about renting passenger vans, so the fleet was increased.
Several years later, Piggy Packers moved to Porirua, to a well known site alongside State Highway One and the local train station.
From here, the business increased significantly to over 60 vehicles. No trip through the North Island was complete unless you passed several Piggy Packer vehicles. With their distinctive green coloured signage, they seemed to be every where on the roads, day and night.
For nearly twenty years, Piggy Packers was owned by the same person. In August 2017, the current owners purchased the business to begin another chapter in the life of this iconic Porirua business.
From a fleet of 15 older trucks and vans, the new owners increased the fleet to 50 cars, cargo and passenger vans and trucks, with the purchase of an existing business in Levin, plus another site in Seaview was established.
